My partner was Chiska and she really spoiled me with her lovely parcel of gifts for me. Thank you Cheryl for hosting again this year and thank you Chiska for making this swap so much fun. I love everything you sent out to me. The snow will be fun to play with. And the neck pillow will come in handy on the long road trips to TX. Turkey Day...

Has come and gone. The food was wonderful. Our big family get together will be next week as we had three with the flu and one with pneumonia. Yay, more turkey to come. Although, I will be making my signature pumpkin stew made inside the pumpkin. So yummy!

Pottering about....

I finished and mailed out two secret sewing parcels this week. This little ornament went along with one of them.

Finds

Coverlet One

Quilt Flimsy
Coverlet Two

I found these beauties while out celebrating my birthday on last Friday. Two twin coverlets made with feed sack fabric centers and one vintage fabric quilt flimsy. All washed and ready for use. Well
the flimsy is waiting and ready to be quilted. I am going to be hand quilting this one. Undecided whether to use big stitch or just regular stitching on this one. Decisions, decisions....

In Progress

I have thought long and hard before posting about this project. As anyone who reads my blog knows that I have a love/hate relationship with knitting. I wanted to try one more time for a sweater. I don't know what happened, but it seemed to have clicked this time. This is the first of four pieces for the sweater and it is coming along nicely. I am now at the decreasing stage for the sleeves on the back of the sweater. I hope in a few days to start on the front and then move on to the sleeves. I am so stoked about this project and hopefully it will be the first of many sweaters to come. I am using Lion Brand Wool Ease in Wheat for this one. Off for a cuppa now.

Sampling

A new design sheet and a few fabric samples to begin stitch on. I am finally enjoying the process, now that I went back to my original ideas for fabric and such. These samples will be the inspiration for my wall hanging in the future.

New Design Sheets....

(don't know why the red is reading orange here)

I decided to start all over with my class design sheets. I had tried to use a different type of collage and there is nothing wrong with the first one I put together. It just was not what I really wanted to work with. Before class had started I wanted to use some of my gingham in my stash as I have loads of it sitting on the shelves. I have five yds of pink, three yellow and three or four yds of the red. As my project from the samples will be a wall hanging, I thought the gingham would suit really well and I would not have to go out and buy anything. I am now a very happy camper with this project and can proceed without a creative block. Sometimes our first ideas are truly the best ideas. Off to stitch a bit now on a wip of the applique variety. I am way behind.

Stars Update

I have added five more stars for my quilt, bringing the total up to 26 so far. I really need to buckle down and work on this in the evenings if I want to finish this sometime in the next year. To my credit though, this has been a slow work in progress quilt. I only work on the stars when I take my parents to dr. appointments or have to go to the hospital to sit. I am thinking I want to work on it more now so I can get this one on the bed. Off for a cuppa and some domestic chores that needs to be taken care of. Have a great day and may your needles always have thread.

Working on.....

Natures Journey...

Natures Journey is being worked on today. Now that dd is at uni again, my mom recovered from her minor surgery and unexpected stay in the hospital and the oldest dd recovered from her surgery, I should be able to get these blocks knocked out soon. Prep work is done for two sets of blocks. Now off for a cuppa and some stitching time.

Only Two......

More little hexagons to go for this seam to be finished, then I can move on to another area to embellish. Still thinking on what else I will be doing for this. I also have a new book that I have wanted for ages and finally decided to buy it. It came today so I will be sitting with this wonderful book this evening for a closer look see. I browsed through early this morning, but I am looking forward to sitting and quietly looking through this book of techniques. I have been up for ages as my mom had a bit of surgery this morning and I am a bit tired. Now off for a cuppa and some quiet time.

Liberty Pouch

A bit more done on the Liberty pouch. Slowly this pouch is coming together. I plan to secure the hexagons in place this evening while taking a rest from all the hectic activity from yesterday. Spent the day at the hospital with oldest daughter while she had exploratory surgery. I also worked on my diamond stars quilt a bit yesterday while waiting as well. More on that soon. Now for a cuppa and a sit down with a good book.

Sampling, Doodles, Play

Taking a bit of time to warm up before actually working on a project has been really enjoyable for me. I will most definitely continue this practice. A few french knots, fme on mulberry paper, knots amid a few yo yo's as well as french knots on gold tissue. These are the pages I have added since the last post. Now off to complete some domestic chores left from yesterday.

Playing With....

Eyelets...

these have long been my  nemesis and I almost skipped over this process in class. Then I decided it had been years since I tried making them, so why not try again. Something clicked this time and I am now making them without all the angst that I had previously had. Also, I am doing them two different ways for two different looks. More on the second way in a later post. This fabric is just a sample and will be made into a pocket at some time in the near future. Now off for a cuppa, enjoy your day.
