Natures Journey A Start...
Well I have started my "Natures Journey" by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched. Chooky is running another stitch along this year and I did join in as we had a break from stitching last year. Since I am using my stash up this year I thought this was a great way to make a start. This is such a cute little quilt and I am using my stash of "Spirit" that I have had forever and a day. I still need to do the embroidery on each of the blocks. I had a bit of a bleed from the thread when I damp stretched the block. I have since corrected the problem, although I should have done a test piece first, which I did not. Since the thread is hand dyed I should have tested it on a small piece before I stitched with it. That would have saved me not only time, but a big headache as well. I have decided to go with needle turn applique to help me get ready for the "big" applique quilt for the hubby. (Ladies of The Sea) So a few practice quilts are in order since I am new to needle turn as my form of applique. It takes lots of patience to be sure, but I am hoping by the end of the journey I will be much more proficient at needle turn applique. A learning curve for me to improve my set of stitching skills to be sure. I am enjoying the process thus far and have already prepped and started on this months set of blocks.
goodluck getting your blocks finished.........
