Well we made our move and everything is in storage which is not fun! Having a time with needing what is still in storage. Although I did keep out most of my sewing supplies. My mom had to have a second surgery so that has put me a little behind. But that is ok, as now she can be on the mend. I have some photos but have not had time to upload and post them as of yet. I am in a couple of swaps and am anticipating the exchanges.
Working on the blocks help me to keep my hands and my mind busy during my moms recovery. We hope to be able to bring her home soon. She wants me to show her how to crazy quilt when she recovers enough to be able to do any sewing. So I am looking forward to doing that with her. I am going to make her a heart and present it to her when she comes home to help cheer her up. She so liked the blocks that I have been working on. I am going to try and get her some stash built up while she recovers, that way she can start a block soon. I am going to make her a few blocks up out of my stash for her to embroider while she is in the bed. As she feels better and can sit at a machine I will teach her the method I use to make the blocks. I need to find a place to buy fabrics for her as there is no local quilt shop in the town. I will be looking on the internet for a place to go and pick up a few supplies to get her started. She likes pinks and blues, so that should be fairly easy for me to find. Kinda like Christmas in Sept. for her! I am just happy that they have her heart finally fixed and she will soon be better than she was before the surgery.
I hope to be able to get some of my blocks completed soon. I will post pics of the blocks I receive in return when they arrive. I will also post a pic of the heart that I am doing for her as well as for two other ladies on another board that I am on. They are both recovering from surgery and this will be to help cheer them up as well.
My fall season to season block should be arriving soon at the hostess's home and then I will receive a block from my swap partner to finish embellishing. Will post pics of that as well when I am able. Time to go embellish some blocks. Happy sewing everyone!

Finally

This is the week of our move. I will be glad when it is finally done and over with. I am a very organized person and living around all the boxes and clutter for the past few weeks has been really hard. Not to mention trying to finish up various swap projects from the different groups that I am in. It has been hectic to say the least.

I have finally gotten the post a comment section fixed on here, so those who would like to leave a comment should now be able to do so.

Happy sewing everyone,
Wendy

New Block for Season to Season Swap

This block is for a swap that I am in called Season to Season. The theme is fall so I picked out colors that remind me of the fall season. This is going to be a fun swap. After making the block you embellish half and then send it to your swap partner to finish. When the block comes back to you it is ready to display however you choose. I am going to make a season's wall hanging with my blocks. I think it will be very pretty when all blocks are finsihed and returned. I am looking forward to recieving my swap partners block and embellishing her block. Still do not know who I will be swapping with, but am looking forward to having fun with this.

Happy stitching everyone!

This was one of my first attempts at cq. Not too bad I guess

Bare Blocks

I will be posting pics of some bare blocks that I have started for my first cq that I will be making for myself. I thought I might just do a wall hanging to start with, but who knows where this will lead me to.
As I embelish I will post updates of each block. I am wanting to also increase my stash of fabrics and doo dads for this project. I have some vintage lace and ribbon that was my grandmothers from the 20's, so I will be using some of those on this project as well.
Until then here are a couple of pics from a couple of practice blocks that actually propelled me into crazy quilting.

Getting Started

Well today starts the first day of my new blog. This blog will be about my life as a quilter both sane and crazy. I like both and actually enjoy all types of sewing, handwork, and crafting. So you may find a little bit of all that I do here. I am new to the world of crazy quilting and I do believe that I have found an outlet that my creative side can soar with. As there are no rules in crazy quilting, this will allow me to be as creative as I desire. I wish I had found this type of quilting years ago. Anyhow, this blog will be a record of my experiences and travels through this great and fun world of quilting.
Along the way I am sure to post things about my daily life with my family and friends. But mostly this will be a place to share my adventures in the world of fabrics and other art forms.
