New Life for Singer....

If you have been following my blog for a bit you will know that I collect old singer sewing machines and refurbish them if possible...sometimes they cannot be brought back to working condition...when that happens they usually go to the junk pile to be used for scrap metal...not anymore...the Mr. has come up with a great way to re-purpose those frozen machines...these still need to be cleaned up a bit and some of the rust removed and the tires will be aged as well before I am finished with them...Singer Tractor. ..the one above is mine and I will try and remove the rust from the silver plate on the front and sides.
this one is my mom's and she is going to paint hers after removing the rust...I cannot wait to see how she decks out this machine...until next time keep those needles stitching....

More Lace....

Working on lovely lace once again...I had forgotten how much I loved working with this technique...
adding lovely knots to cascade on this piece...
another lovely piece I am working on...these come together so quickly and are such a joy to work on...adding stitch is so relaxing...
my ledger is going to be full of lovely samples when I am through with these...unless I decide to take them further and make something with them...undecided for now...
this one needs to be damp stretched before I can stitch more onto the surface...lovely bumpy bits...
another lovely shot of my work table today...I have spent the day with lovely fabric bits, lace and thread...I am a happy girl indeed...

Blocks for Bliss

I have crocheted the first block of four for Bliss's blanket...she was in a block swap in one of her groups a while back and she had some that never came in the mail...so I volunteered to make her some blocks so she could finish her blanket...this is the first one...it is made with the grit stitch which is a very easy stitch to do...each block is 12 inches by 12 inches...her blanket will be so pretty when complete...

FNSI The Results

For FNSI I worked on my lace piece...I added french knots, bullions and blanket stitch lace...
I love how this sample is turning out...a bit of color in the knots to go with the snippets I have on the lace...
I had intended this for my round table cloth I am making, but added the color before I thought about it...so this will be a working sample for my ledger instead...
Time always flies by when I am working on these pieces...hope to have it finished soon...now I off to put more knots on this while I have a few moments to do so...I am linking up here if you would care to go see what everyone else got up to on Friday night...

Remake....

I am in a swap that takes place over six months...for some reason my first package did not arrive at its new home...this is my remake for my partner...something for the Sewing Room...
I made an armrest sewing caddy and a scissor keep....
I also included two embroidery thread spools and some hexagon templates that I punched out with my new tool...another parcel is heading its way there as well for something for the Laundry...the next project is for the bedroom and I am already drafting it out I sure hope my partner will like it...until next time,

Playing...

Playing with lace again...this time I am extending the play with methods taught by Karen in her class Lace Paper Cloth and Stitch...making different surfaces to embellish with stitch is always fun...these are waiting for stitch embellishment to happen...
The pink and blue metalic bits are vintage ribbon that I cut and used to add some color and texture...
Every time I use this method I fall deeper in love with the process..I actually lose myself into the making of this cloth that I forget time all together...I guess that is a good thing when you are working on something you love...
The above not so good pic of the back of the larger work...sometimes I fall in love with the back as well...
I have not had time at the machine in a couple of weeks to just sit and play, so this felt good to be able to take the time and play a bit and make something just for me...
Off to stitch on this beautiful cloth now...I may add some sre to these as well...we shall see...

4th...

Happy 4th of July to all my blogging friends who celebrate our big day of Freedom!...I am so glad that I live in a land of free people...we are not perfect by no means, but we are free, which is such a blessing...I also want to take a moment and thank those who are far from home that are serving our country...may your day be blessed and filled with the knowledge that all you have sacrificed for freedom is much appreciated...

Bloggy Mail....

Look what arrived in my mail box this week...this is the card she sent...I am so very excited...I had commented on a post about the wonderful work that Suz was doing with her gellie plates...
And the back is as beautiful as the front...so I can swap it from time to time if I want...the front is my favorite though...notice the hexagon hiding in there...
the designs were great and fun...I also commented on her lovely block that she is working on...she does the most amazing tatting...she also included several runs of Josephine knots for me...
I am so thrilled with my card, the larger piece which I am going to frame for the sewing room and the tatting that she made for me...thank you so much Suz...I love them all...
