Downton Abbey....

My lovely children gave me all three seasons of Downton Abbey for Christmas...season three was at the post office today, so guess what I spent the evening doing! You guessed it, watching season three in its entirety. I won't spoil it for you, but will say lots of drama and sadness this season. Now to wait patiently for season four! sigh....

Dare To Dresden....

Today is my day in the Dare to Dresden blog hop hosted by Madame Samm and Christine from Quilt Monster In My Closet as our lovely cheer leaders. If you have time please go by and check out their blogs as well. I love the dresden block and have made several mini quilts with them and given them away in swaps. I had one already cut out from when I made one for a swap and in my ufo's so decided to put it together for this hop. It still needs the binding and that will be done Monday night as I don't do any sewing on Sunday's. I do have a stack of fat quarters of Bliss (you know, waiting on the perfect project):) left that I am thinking of making a full quilt with.
 closeup:
This one is still in the beginning stages and has also been sitting in my ufo pile for over a year. sigh...I hope to finish it this week as well if my time at the sewing machine increases. I still get so tired after being in the hospital, but am getting there slowly but surely.
Please take time to go and visit all the girls that are on the hop for today. I know you will enjoy seeing all the great dresdens that are going to be made. I am the fourth on the list for today!:)

FNSI...Accomplishments

Last night I participated in FNSI for the first time and is hosted by Heidi here. I really enjoyed setting this time aside to work on a few things. I finished my heart for the "Initial Heart" swap. This is the heart before I put the initial of my swap partner on. And a closeup of the heart. This heart is going to be hard to send out tomorrow. Is this beauty coming to you? I will show the heart with the initial once my swap partner receives her package. This heart is made with vintage fabrics and a vintage doily. The folded roses are made with scrim.

This second heart is the one I posted about previously and have now finished. I waffled back and forth on adding more bling and some roses, but finally decided on simple. I did add a little heart at the bottom with shabby strings. I will be keeping this one.
Closeup of the smaller heart and strings.
Next I worked on my scrap vomit quilt. I completed another block and have one that just needs the rows stitched together. Hopefully I can finish it on tomorrow. I would have liked to finished it last night but I was just so tired sitting at the machine.
Since I did not feel like sitting at the sewing machine I did finish my work on one of my white work blocks for my Embroider, Embellish, Create class. I tried a new to me stitch, the twilling stitch or basque stitch. Once I got the hang of it I was able to stitch pretty quickly.
Because I got so tired, I did not get my Rainbow Jane blocks put together. The lighting was not good today to make pics, so I will try again when the sun comes out. I am happy with all that I accomplished on last night and will be participating again.
Happy Stitching,
Wendy

Mail Call #1

I was in a Christmas swap with Josie called Christmas Angels which was hosted by Karen...I have been waiting on my parcel to arrive...Josie mailed it out in plenty of time, but the package was held up in customs...it has now safely arrived and I am thrilled with everything that Josie sent out to me...here is what she sent out to me...
The stitching on each of these items is amazing! So tiny and precise. The candle mat is so lovely as well as the wall hanging that she made. Then the inspiration pack is amazing! And in some wondrous colors as well...she even sent along a "Stitch" magazine that has one of my favorite bloggers that I follow with a project! So that is definitely on my to do list for 2013...below is what I sent out to Josie...I forgot to take pics so borrowed these from her blog here...you can go visit her blog and she tells you all about her goodies...

I really enjoyed getting to know Josie through this swap and hope that we continue with our friendship long past this swap...you should go visit her blog as she has great inspiration going on over there...also Karen is running another swap and sign ups are now open but will be closing soon. Go here to sign up, you are sure to have great fun...20 of us have already signed up, many returning form the first swap...

Break Over.....

or so it seems...I am tired of resting so decided to do a little bit of blogging...I have done exactly what the dr. has told me to do, but am very restless to do something besides sit...the meds seem to be working well at this point...we did get some snow while I was sick...just a quick dusting, enough to make slushy driveways and icy roads here...my oldest daughter had to pull over because of icy conditions and wait on the guys to go get her and her van...all gone by the next day though as it heated up enough to melt all the ice.
I did get started on this stitchery and it should be finished this week.

Happy Stitching,

Finished Cowl

I finished the cowl...I really like how this one turned out and may make one more only slightly larger than this one....this one is 10 rows and I think one with 20 rows would be really nice, then you could pull it up over your head if you needed to...it is a lovely deep grape color.

Heart Project

I am in a "Initial Heart" swap hosted by Cheryll...this is my practice run of my idea for the swap. You can make any type heart you would like just as long as you put your swap partners initial on the heart somewhere. I decided to do a collage heart mini wall hanging. Here is where I am at for the moment. I still need to add some rosettes that I made for it and of course add some bling.

On The Hooks

I started another cowl...have you tried Red Hearts new thread called Love...it has a really soft feel to it and is working up nicely...

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

And Then...

There was two! Two thread catchers that is....this second one was harder to fiddle with...I decided to use a stiff liner instead of the quilt batting that I used in the first one...big mistake...it was hard to handle, and was so stiff that I had a hard time sewing down the fold over...

A Trade...

Hopefully....I have had these for a while and would like to trade them for something that I know I want to make...This is what I have for trade....

"Over The River and Through The Woods" by Crabapple Hill...

Next: "Petal Party" (this is a beautiful quilt)
Tilda Books: Similar book trade or if you trade the patterns a book to go with the pattern...I am willing to ship international...
The patterns I want to trade for:
1. "Winter Wonderland" by Crabapple Hill
2. "Tail Feathers" by Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches.

So, if you have the pattern/s and you have already made them and/or you have decided you are not going to make them and want to trade you can email me and I will get back to you about them...I really want to make the "Tail Feathers" this year, and would love to swap it out...I mean, if you are like me once you make a certain pattern like these you usually do not make them again...then the patterns just sit taking up space...

Two Posts

I know two posts in one day, but I wanted to do another post for Bev as she finally received her package from me...when she emailed me that it had arrived I breathed a big sigh of relief...I was already making another wall hanging for her just in case...now I will have one for me next year...here is what I sent out to Bev...

Christmas Loot

I am a bit behind on posting all my Christmas loot from this year...boy did I score! First my sweet hubs bought me a Kaffe Fassett fat quarter bundle in water for our anniversary on Dec. 2...then both the men in my life (dh and ds) decided to get me the fire bundle for Christmas! Am I lucky or what! Then my middle daughter gave me seasons 1, 2 and pre-ordered season 3 (which will be mailed to me in Jan. 2013) of Downton Abbey! I love this show and have been watching it to my delight!

Then my three lovely children also gave me CSI Miami seasons 3,4,5...I love this show and have been watching it as well...
Lovely eldest daughter gave me this peacock candle light, which I absolutely adore! She had at home parties when she lived in Atlanta, I so wanted one of these back in the summer but they were out of my budget...hehehe, she has had this for me since I raved about the one she uses in her shows..this pic does not do it justice...the colors are iridescent and they remind you of a peacock...now to find the perfect candle.

My hubs also gave me this new camera that I really needed as well...

Now the loom is a gift to myself as I am hopeless at knitting and I thought maybe I could knit some socks on one of the looms...we will see...
Next are some books that I have wanted for a while that was in my stocking as well...the silk ribbon book is filled will fabulous flowers that will look great on my crazy quilts...the other flower book is for using with special tools to make lifelike milliner flowers...

This book is filled will beautiful work and information on finding the right materials to work with...also has some patterns to try.
The next two books I wanted so I could learn how to stitch the birds and make realistic feathers...those birds are absolutely charming...a quick scan through of the books shows they are chock full of great information for beginner stitchers to advanced stitchers...

And of course I have tons of stuff that I received that I won't be putting on here...all in all I was very spoiled by those who love and know me...most importantly we were able as a family to spend time together with each other and celebrate another Christmas with both parents...
