I was going through my stash of lace and such to see what I had that I could use in an up coming lace class with Karen...there is still time to sign up if you are interested...My sweetie bought me a really nice wedding dress to cut up for my crazy quilting. I have finally cut it all up and will be using some of the lace from it. I have tons of lace and lace motifs off the dress and I still have not cut up the bustle or the bodice and sleeves of the dress...organza and some crinkly organza...
Wedding dress lace...the train is about 11yds.....
More laces for class from the stash....
More wedding dress lace.....
I still need to cut up the bodice and bustle (no pic of the bustle and it is huge as well)
Below is scrim on the left and cheese cloth on right...the cheese cloth is doubled and still more open weave than the scrim...personally I would recomend that you get scrim if you are in the US and taking Karen's class and not the cheese cloth that you can get in the grocery store or at the craft stores...
Now to put this on my work table in a lace box until time for class. I don't think I need to buy anything as I have the fabric I need in my stash as well...just need to order my thread and I will be set....
Happy Stitching,
Wendy

Looks like you are well prepared. This is the first of Karen's classes I won't be doing, as much as I'd love to,got too much on at the moment. I shall look forward to seeing your creations
Wendy, you have such wonderful lace for your class! I needed to get a towel to wipe up the drool! Oh, the wedding dress lace is gorgeous! I'm looking forward to seeing your lace creations.
I love your lace! You are very well prepared. Is this class online, or will you be attending the class locally?
yep...you're ready for class. i've used the scrim and the cheese cloth in making lace and both work but have different effects.
Wendy...now that is one lovely lace stash!!!

That is quite a collection. Our niece-in-law used her wedding dress as fabric for her daughters' first communion dresses!
Beautiful stash of lace! Karen's class is going to be amazing. I found a place to order scrim here in the US. What a difference between scrim and muslin. They are worlds apart.See you in class!
Wendy, I ordered from Online Fabric Store. Not a very imaginative name but their service was excellent! I ordered 4 yards of scrim and some crinoline for ribbon work. I received my order within days.here is a link to their store. http://www.onlinefabricstore.net/
