On The Hook....and WOW a Day Early
As it is heating up here in the south I had to put aside my big afghan as I was way too hot when working on it...I will pick it up again in the fall when things cool down again...in the meantime I wanted a project that I could crochet, but not be overheated when working on it...I decided on the old standby of granny squares...with wonderfully bright colors no less...I have these three blocks finished and have nine more centers prepared to crochet...I can do one block at a time and not be waited down in this heat with the whole blanket...and they take very little time to complete.

A Little Bit of Nature....
This little peach tree is loaded with peaches...I can hardly wait to harvest these for peach cobbler and hopefully some jam as well..
Nothing crafty today as it is a holiday here in the states...so I decided on a nature post today...lovely roses and a loaded peach tree...enjoy...this rose bush is a wild rose and is running up several trees...I wish I had taken pics before all the storms last week...but there is still blooms up in the high branches of the trees...these trees are at least 20 to 30 feet high and the roses are all through the branches...smells heavenly as well...this is my moms and we really need to do some type of arbor for these roses...they are soft yellow blooms with pink interiors...
the rose bush itself is so big in areas...we counted five trees wrapped up with this lovely rose bush...
these are some of my Tyler TX roses that my sweet husband brought back for me on one of his trips back to TX...they are really doing well this year...again the winds and rain almost took all the petals away...these will bloom all summer though...and they smell lovely as well...
big large petals...and on these they are doubled...first year that has ever happened with these...
Hope you are having a wonderful day, I know I am surrounded by these beautiful roses...

More Scrim Play
I am still playing with the scrim...I am still in love with this technique and am sure I will never tire of it...these are the newest pieces in the works...I am loving all those shiny bits of organza that is peeking through...
closeup of the year this piece was made...I may do some wording on the next couple of pieces that I make so that I can incorporate them as well...
Both pieces together before being damp stretched....
so easy and quick...this took no time at all to make...now to embellish and titivate these two before joining them to my other pieces that are waiting patiently for me to add to them...sigh...I will never tire of looking at these or touching them...for all the stitching on them they are fragile and lovely...
this is a long weekend for us as we are celebrating Memorial Day here in the US...on that note...
"Thank you to all those who have served our country in the military, including my beloved dad who served in the Navy...thank you for putting your lives on the line on a daily basis...I for one appreciate all that you sacrifice for our freedom...May you be blessed for all that you do for your country..."

Scrim Play Two.....
I am so in love with this technique....and I have been having such fun playing with my threads, bits and lace....
cutting it up and putting it back together in a different way...
so many ideas running through my mind....I had to start writing them down in my EEC journal to keep a record of my thoughts on this technique...and of course now that I have written in the journal I will need samples to go next to my thoughts on the subject....
which means more scrim play in the future just for the samples that I will need...:)
the bit above is one of my favorites...it looks like it has been quilted with all the puckering....so wonderful...sigh...
With this technique there is no limit to the creativity that is sparked by the project...which leads to more titivation's...and further exploration of the cloth...
sigh...such wonderful thread play going on here...french knots, bullion knots, more french knots...
loving how these little french knots speak to my heart....
loving the side view here...
A group of lovely knots and wrapped thread beckoning to me once again to pick up needle and thread...

Scrim and Titivations.....
I am now starting the most fun part of this piece...the titivations and adding of bing! A closeup of some bullion knots in a row...some thread wrapping, french knots and tiny yoyo's...
I am having so much fun with the scrim lace...I see much more of this in my future. Keep those needles and thread moving!

Lace Class....
I have been taking a lace class with Karen Ruane...if you have never been to her blog you should go take a visit. Be prepared to stay a while and look through her blog...she is a very prolific and talented lady...I absolutely love her work...this is my second class I have taken with her...I am loving it thus far and am creating a great piece of work for future generations...
Block #1 this one has lace, sheer organdy and more lace!
Block 1 closeup: I stitched the lines from the two different laces to create a wheel effect between the two. I love how the sheer organza changes colors depending on how the light hits it.
Block 2 is made up of laces, fabric and a lace yoke.
Block 3 has various laces and a small strip of the bridal lace off the gown I deconstructed for the lace and satin.
Block four has trims, lace, fabric and a vintage cuff. I have one more of the same cuff and the collar to match that will be used in later blocks.
Here are all the blocks laid out together. Wish the pic was better, but it was made during our week of rainy weather.
This is the start of the scrim:
This piece is about a 20x20 inch piece.
I am loving this technique of working with scrim.
More scrim with snippets added...
I just had to add a heart to this as all this cloth is being made in remembrance of my maternal gran.
My mind is whirling with all types of possibilities after taking this class...I am looking forward to expanding this project in the future...as this will be a long time project I will continue to post as I add more embellishment to these pieces as well as future ones...Again you should go visit with Karen here to see all of her lovely work...Keep those needles humming!

Catching up....
Can you ever really catch up on life? I have been so busy since I came back from my trip. A good busy, but busy to the point of distraction. I am way behind on posting on here as I just have not taken the time to post. So....today I am going to try and catch up with posting. First off I need to post about my stitch along project that was made for April. Had to let the battery charge, but first I had to find the charger, which took forever and a day to find. Finally it has charged and I have taken some much needed photos of items that I need to post about. This weeks posts will be about catching up on those. Today's pic is about my April project. This project was easy to make and I actually have a second one in the make even now. Aprils requirement was to make a little wall hanging from TTS patterns. I used all scraps for my little wall hanging and I think it turned out really well. I will be adding some bling to this I think before the Christmas holidays this year. I thought I could leave it plain and simple, but the more I look at it the more I want to add some bling. Anyhow, it was completed in time for the April deadline. While gone on my trip I also received my color swap while gone. Here is what I received and sent out. My partner was Katie, you can find her here. My color was purple and this is what Katie sent out to me. Thank you Katie, I love all of it.
And here is what I made for my swap partner Danette. Her color was red and I enjoyed making goodies for her.
More updates to come on tomorrow. Have a great evening and keep those needles busy.
