Sophies Universe CAL 2015

I have finally started this cal this past weekend. I have become very close to the terms frog and frogging we are now best friends!:) I am really liking the way this is making up so far. I decided to use my fall colors from Attic24 for this project and I think they are going to look really good in the end product. I have completed the first two parts and am now ready to start part three. One more just because...

Scrim Lace Sampling...

Once again I have been bitten by the scrim lace muse. I love how this always has such an airy look to it. This time there is some cross stitch added in the form of roses. I have I ever said that I absolutely hated cross stitch on here before? Well, I do and that has not changed. However, using the waste canvas and a small rose pattern I have added some stitched roses to the lace. I have not changed my mind about the cross stitch, but in small samples I am ok with it. A few more to go and then I will be adding some bullions, bumpy bits and a few knots here and there.

Sampling...

I have spent some time sampling for "Swathed In Stitch" and this is the results. Very hard to get good pics on white and I may try for better results tomorrow. A pinpricked wrapping cloth, knots, petals and hexagons. These will go in my ledger to marinate for a while to see if I will take them forward or not. I did enjoy the making of them and will have a few more ready to show soon.

EPP Star Update...

Anthea from here is hosting a linky party for those who love to epp (English Paper Piecing) for those who don't know what epp stands for. Here is what she says,
Whether you play with a few shapes here & there, or you're slowly working towards a once-in-a-lifetime creation... if you're a beginner or have been doing EPP for years... or maybe you need a re-boot on your project... you're welcome to join in.
All shapes, sizes & projects are welcome!

On the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month

I pulled out my stars to work on them a bit and finished two new ones. The boot is finally finished and I stitched together the rose one as well. A good start on an wip that has been languishing since last summer. I plan to keep these next to my couch so that I can stitch up a star while watching movies when I have free time. Just working on these during dr. appts and such is taking a long time to make any real progress on my handwork projects. I am hoping this will make a big impact on the monthly stars. I am also linking up with Jessica from here.

A Sweet Dolly...

I received the cutest doll in the mail this past week. I have named her "Joyful" and she is such a delight. I participated in the Initial Heart swap again this year as it is always a great way to meet new people. My partner made and sent me the sweetest dolly ever. Thank you so much Theresa from here. I will post about what I made as soon as it arrives to my  partner, so stay tuned.

A Pillow....

I received some very happy mail this past week and I will be posting each one in a separate post. Today is all about the pillow! This pillow came from the very talented Karen Ruane. You can find her here and you will not be disappointed by going there. Be sure to brew you a cuppa and plan to spend plenty of time browsing through her blog. Karen does the most amazing work. The pillow is one of her latest creations and it has made its way into my little hands! Karen, the pillow is just beautiful and I am so happy to have it in my home. Now, just one more pic :)
Love at first sight! All the lovely stitchy goodness! Knots, bullions, wrapped thread, bumpy bits, puffs, tabs...

This hop is designed to let those who suffer from this disease that we love and support you. I decided to make a prayer flag as my show of support. Hope you enjoy the hop! Stop by all the links below to see how each lady has supported this day!

Natures Journal SAL 2015

I am a part of Chooky's stitch along this year and we will be doing the Natures Journal quilt by Anni Downs. The first part of the stitch-a-long is this little stitchery by Anni and can be found on her blog here. Now that my pattern has arrived I am trying to decide on my fabrics. I will be using just one fabric for the background, but need to decide between these two. I am leaning towards to green dots at the moment.
Next up is the fabric for the applique and the patchwork squares for the borders. I thought about using the two below together
or using my stash of "Spirit" that I have had forever and a day.
I hope to make my choices soon so I can get started on the first months blocks. Now to go and mull over my choices.
