FNSI...and Snow/Ice!!!

I am late posting my FNSI, so sorry about that...I will get to that in a moment...it is 4degrees here as I type this post! So very cold and I do mean cold...living in the south you do not expect this type of cold!!! The above pic is of the roadway....
My poor feet have not been warm for three days now...double the socks has not helped either...we had ice and snow on yesterday, three inches!
What a mess...my niece wrecked her car because of ice on the roads...two young men helped get her car out of the ditch and bring it to my moms house...her mom sent an ambulance to get her as she was having severe pain in her left side...my daughter Bliss rode in the ambulance to the hospital with her...the ambulance slid off into a ditch because of another car out on the icy road...they were unharmed, thank the Lord...but it was a very trying time yesterday...
the weathermen missed it big time here on yesterday...it was supposed to be a light dusting of snow and no ice...yet the ice came and then the snow...the interstate was backed up for hundreds of miles, with people abandoning their cars to get somewhere safe for the night...today has been no better...no more snow, but the ice is still on the roads and the national guard is trying to sand the roads down so they are usable...it is so very cold and slippery under all the snow...
The pond iced over and then the snow fell...see those lovely tree shapes made by the ice....
I am sooooo over winter! I want spring to come now, thank you...
The smaller pond in front of moms house....love the snow on the rocks...looks lovely...
Riddick walking about in the snow...freezing his poor little feet...
Riddick and Ruby...they were shivering so much....
Whizzer...this is his first time to see snow and he did not really like it at all...
Jazmine's first time with snow as well...she did not really like it at all...especially when her uncle c threw a snowball at her...made her mad, it was so very funny...
Riddick running around in the snow like crazy now...
Now his paws are beginning to freeze up on him...I had to take him in and rub them with warm water and a warm towel...my poor sweet boy...and every single time someone went out, he was right there with them...then we had to do the process all over again...
nothing is open and even if it were you cannot get on the roads to drive anywhere as they are all closed...I want the sun to come out and the snow and ice to go...come on warmth and comfort....come on spring, I am truly over winter...now for the FNSI...I have had this jellyroll of "Bliss" forever and a day...I actually had three and this is the last one...I still have a fq set though...anyhow, on Friday night this is what I worked on...these strips became...
these...next they will be cut into 2 1/2 inch strips and then sewn into squares...stay tuned for progress on these in the next few days.
I have also crocheted some since the snow and ice...I will post about those soon...hope you are warm if you live in the cold areas and staying cool if it is hot in your neck of the woods...
Wendy

So glad your niece was okay, I am sure she was tired of getting into cars and wondering what was next.

I had to chuckle with these photos! The one thing to say about a snow day "it's a great stitching day"!

Glad everyone is safe, that's the main thing. Good time to stay indoors, and I think I have to agree with the little one, snow isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Oh Wendy, I just can't imagine what it would be like to be so cold! Your photos were great, they all told the story with your words.
Down Under it is getting hotter and hotter; February is the last month of our summer and usually the worst for bushfires, so nobody is looking forward to it. Tomorrow in Melbourne the forecast is for 42 deg.C (about 110 deg.F). No chance of snow here, lol!

I'm so glad your niece is safe. Yes, the roads can be slippery, and if people are not experienced driving in ice and snow, it can be very dangerous. A good time to stay home, make hot soup, and stitch. If you can't get warm, wear a hat inside and it may help. Hugs

I think I might have a good idea of what you are doing with the jelly roll - I love that range!!

Brrr! Just looking at your photos, makes me cold, Wendy. Glad your niece is OK; those are scary driving conditions. Stay warm. (Or at least try!)

I saw this freak weather you had on the news in England. There's nothing pleasant about driving in those conditions. I do hope your niece recovers....
