Playing With....

Snippet cloth again...I am loving how this is coming along...even on its own it is looking like a crazy quilt...how awesome is that!:)
I am so happy about this outcome...this piece will be large to be sure, but will be cut up and used in the crazy quilt I am making for my final project in Alchemy with Karen Ruane...I will forever call this "Crazy Snippet Cloth" in honor of crazy quilts...one more peek at my lovely cloth in progress...
On this past Saturday the hubs and I went to a local charity shop and look what I found...
These are 100% linen table mats and napkins...eight in total...these are vintage but new in the package...just beautiful and I could not pass them up, so they came home with me...
There are eight of each...the table mat is 20 inches wide and 19 1/2 inches tall...the napkins are 20 inch squares....just lovely...the weight and feel of these table linens are so wonderful...I have plans to use these in a future wrapping cloth...
I am sure these will be finding their way into several projects along the way...I also came across this spool of vintage trim...
the pic does not do it justice...it is a deep chocolate brown color and so very rich looking...I am thinking this is embroidery anglaise but am not sure...there are about 20yds here...I am off to work some more on my crazy snippet cloth so I can start piecing together the actual project...keep calm and stitch on,
Wendy

P/S...don't forget FNSI is this Friday, which for us in the states is tomorrow...do go here and sign up if you have not already done so...

So many of those linen placemat and napkin sets end up in charity shops...makes you wonder why people never used them back then when there were no plastic or corkbacked placemats. And I STILL put out my linen napkins when we have guests for dinner, although they usually gasp and say "Oh no, I couldn't wipe my hands on those - I wouldn't want to soil them!" I tell people that is the purpose of napkins, but....maybe it was the same back then when they were fashionable wedding and engagement gifts!
