Whew....Changes....A Scare....

Birthday and going to college gift to Bliss...

It seems like time has just flown by these past few months, not to mention the last few weeks with all the  gathering,packing,crying, gathering more...packing up more...my girl is flying the coop and going to Christ For The Nations for the next four years...a long road trip is looming ahead...checking lists to make sure everything is packed and ready to travel...who knew that packing for college could be so stressful...:)or maybe it is just me...I am a very proud mom and tomorrow marks the day that we make the long trek to campus and drop off our precious cargo...it will be Christmas before she has a long enough break to come home...already counting the days...

my mom has not been fairing too well either....she had another trip to the hospital...a few weeks ago she went into cardiac arrest and had no life for four minutes...but God is so loving to us and brought her back to us...then last week another trip with severe chest pains...an overnight stay with so many tests run...life at this time in our lives is hectic and full to say the least and we are so blessed...Mom will be 79 on the 26th of this month and my dad will turn 80 on the 20th of this month....March 1, 2014 they will be married for 60 yrs...for me many changes are coming along...I will be taking a short break to see "B" settled in and will be back next weekend...I am taking some hand stitching to work on during the long trek for when I am not at the wheel...see you soon...

Friday Hexi Count/FNWF

I have one hexi and one star for this week...better progress than I thought considering the condition of my eye...tonight is FNWF and I will be working on a project or two...we will see...I will be back tomorrow to update on the nights sew in...see you then......I put the connecting diamonds onto the star...

I have decided that some progress is better than no progress at all...my eye is finally back to normal on today and I am looking forward to tonight and being able to sit down and sew with no swollen eye to hinder me...go here to link up for the sew in and see who else is participating and what they are working on...a big thank you to Cheryl who is our wonderful hostess of this linky party...

Hexi Friday on Saturday...

I know I am late with this post...but I have had a rough week this past week...I have poison oak on my right eyelid and it is not only very painful but really swollen as well...I did get a little stitching done between eye breaks though....I am really pleased with this week total which is three flowers! Even with all the eye upset...very 
painful and taking loads of allergy meds which make me sleepy...

I now have a total of seven flowers ready for the next round of color for them, which is what I may try and accomplish on this coming week...or I may finish the other five I have basted and then do all them together for the next round...depends on how my eye situation progresses this week...keep those needles stitching,

EPP Monday Star Count 2...

Not much accomplished this past week with the stars...I have been working on a project with a deadline (to me) so not much time for the stars...I did get the connecting diamonds sewn onto the red star though...I guess some progress is better than none at all...I also have worked on my scrappy hexagons as well...those will be posted on Wednesday...it is raining here again today...dark, dreary, overcast, heavy rain with wind and thunder....so much for the lovely sunshine for one day...it is pouring down rain as I type this...the internet connection has acted up all day because of the rain and clouds...off to stitch some more so I can have more to show soon...keep those needles stitching...linking up here just in case you want to see what the rest of the ladies are up to....

Star Monday on Tuesday...

I was going to post this on Monday, but my pin pillow came and this post went out the window! Not much sewn on the star front as I have been waiting on my paper pieces to arrive...they are finally here and this week I will be basting like crazy...I did get the red star sewn together and was able to cut many stars to baste....now to get stitching...linking up here at Life Under Quilts....you should stop by her blog for a visit to see the projects everyone else is working on....keep those needles stitching,

Pin Pillow ...

My pin pillow from Karen has arrived...it is stunningly gorgeous! I am so in love with it...the stitching is so lovely and the big surprise was when I opened the package inside was the one I really, really  wanted when she was showing them on her blog...thank you for such beautiful work Karen...I am so happy with my lovely pin pillow...if you have not been to visit Karen here you should go on over so you can see her beautiful embroidery work...she does such lovely hand stitching...

Scrim....

A while ago I did a one to one swap with Lynn...we swapped a small scrim hanging...I am just so excited about what Lynn sent out to me...I had even commented on this piece without realizing that she was sending it out to me...thank you Lynn I love this piece and will treasure it...now to find the perfect spot to display this lovely gem...and here is the one I sent out to Lynn, which has arrived safely to its new home...be sure and go over to visit Lynn here, you will not be disappointed...lots of creativity going on over there...

A Little EPP....

Not much going on here...I did get these finished this past week...have not had a lot of time to stitch...hope that will change this week...

New Pin Cushion....

Just wanted to pop in and show you my new pin cushion that Bliss made for me...she did an excellent job on this one...I need to show you the others she has made as well...soon I promise...this one is a top hat and I love it...she is so good at crocheting these little projects...thank you so much "B"...it has been raining for several days and this is the best pic I could get...the color is berry with a

turquoise flower...another great addition to my collection...

LE Start...

Edited on July 11, 2013: after much thought and study of the above photo after enlarging it...I have decided that my applique skills are not such that I will be able to follow along with this quilt at this time...however, I will be downloading the monthly blocks for this lovely quilt and put it on my bucket list of quilts to do...I am disappointed, but know this is the right action for me to take at this time...the time that would be needed to spend on this coverlet is more than I could put into it at this time...hopefully I can make this quilt at a later date and do it justice...
An update on mom is in the previous post at the bottom....:)
I have made a mock up of the "Love Entwined" compass that is the first part of the new bom that Esther is sharing with those of us who belong to her group....sign up is free if you want to be a part of this great bom...it will take from July 2013 until November 2014 to finish so this is a long term project....My plan is to use Kaffe fabrics with a black background...I hope to start the compass this weekend if I can squeeze in the time...Mock up for "Love Entwined"

Prayers Needed...

Update on MOM!
First let me say thank you for all of you who have prayed or send emails asking about my mom....I really appreciate each and every one of you....your prayers, thoughts and emails about my mom have meant so much to me...she went into cardiac arrest on Sunday afternoon and had no heartbeat for four minutes...she was transported to the hospital and was in cicu1 for two days, then moved to a regular room...she is better and we have her at home and settled in her own room...many of you know that she has congestive heart failure and this is part of that disease....we are so thankful to God for giving her back to us for a while longer....each day is special and we have such thankful hearts that she is still with us...lots of changes for the future...


Those of you who have followed my blog for some time know that my sweet mom suffers from congestive heart failure....on last evening her heart stopped for about four minutes while I was with her in her home...she was transported to the hospital and is in cicu1 which is the cardiac intensive care unit....those who pray please keep her in your prayers please...her name is Marie and we would greatly appreciate all the prayers we can get for her...she is such a great mom and will be 79 yrs young next month....I will be absent from the blog for a while but will update if possible...jut too much trouble to take to the hospital....thank you for your prayers in advance....

Hexi Flower...

Here is another hexi flower finished and one started for my scrappy hexagon quilt...no hurry on this one...I was able to do the one flower late one night while gone and start another one...now that I am home I hope to do more of these each week...if not that is ok too as this is a slow work in progress to use up some scraps...I will also be posting this on my other blog here, which is just for hexies...keep those needles stitching...

Crocheted Blanket

Originally this was going to be a full size afghan for me...enter my sweet granddaughter Jazmine....monkey, my baby needs a blankie....ooooh that's pretty monkey (thats what she calls me):)...every single time she came to visit she would look in the basket and say this...what's a gran to do...make up four blocks into a dolls blankie of course...now Jazmine's baby is nice and toasty...I added two rows of double crochet after I joined the blocks...a smaller project than when I first started, but one that has given much happiness to the receiver of the blankie...grandchildren are such a blessing in ones life...Keep those needles stitching.

I'm Back....

 I am back from my blog absence of nearly two weeks...nothing wrong, I just went out of town to speak at a conference in TX....no time for much stitching while away...although I did complete one hexi flower for the week I was gone and basted many of the bigger ones...before I left on the trip I made this lovely bit of scrim for a small wall hanging...a closeup...

I really love how this one turned out...it has lace bits and pieces sandwiched between two layers of scrim....this was so much fun to work on....keep those needles stitching!

Awesome Package....

Blogging friends are so awesome...over the years that I have had my blog I have met some wonderful people who love the same things I do...one such friend is Gina, who I met through a swap where we were partnered together...Gina and I both love peacocks, old linens and needlework...a few weeks ago Gina came into a large supply of linens and crocheted doilies...she shared them with some of her readers...I was one of the lucky bloggy friend who received some of them...they arrived here on yesterday...now to decide what these will become in the future...thank you so much Gina for your thoughtful gift of linens...I will treasure each and everyone of them and will use them in my creative process...

FNWF Results....

This is what I worked on last night...added to my scrim of course.... I have added two more sections and started on the stitching...more time will be spent on this over the next few days...originally I was going to work on my hexi quilt, but this just grabbed me instead and once I started working on it I kept going....progress is good...:)

Scrim Play....

I have been playing with scrim again...I am really enjoying the process of making the plain scrim into a thing of beauty by adding stitch....all these french knots, buttonhole bar, bullions, mirrors, butterflies, buttonhole stitch, seed stitch....makes this cloth so pretty to just gaze at....I have two more sections ready to be added to my other pieces...I hope you don't tire of seeing the scrim on here as it will be an ongoing work in progress until the cloth tells me it is finished...then I will start another in a different color...sigh....so many ideas running through my mind about this scrim!

Mother's Day Mini

I was in a mini quilt swap hosted by Cheryl for a Mother's Day Mini...my swap partner was Carin and she lives in Sweden...she sent me the most lovely little mini ever...I also made a mini for her and she has finally received it...it took a bit longer to get to her than we anticipated...I tracked it to customs here and I guess it sat there for a while before moving on...now it is finally in its new home so I can now post about them...I absolutely love the one Carin made for me....so precious! Thank you Carin for such a lovely little quilt to add to my mini quilt wall...Below is the one I made for Carin...she emailed to say she loves it as well and is now hanging in her kitchen...I wish I had more of this fabric as I love how this one turned out...I used raw edge applique for all the little flowers and then quilted them down...

I have enough of the flowers to make a small mug rug with and will be doing so shortly...keep those needles flying...
