FNSI...The Results

I am late in posting my results from the FNSI for this month...first up I worked a few more rows on the knitted shawl I am working on...this is being worked on huge needles to give it a loosely woven fabric...as it is a basic knit I am doing well...yay for me....next up...
I worked on my klosjes again as it has been a while since I made any new ones...three more to the stack...and I now have a large stack ready to sew together...
Finally more yoyo's cut and ready to go...these are easy to sew, just have been put on the back burner as I was bored with making them...this project will take a huge amount of these, so I consider it a long time work in progress...no hurry, it will get done when done...what did you get up to? You can go here to see what everyone else did during the sew in...

Playing With....

Snippet cloth again...I am loving how this is coming along...even on its own it is looking like a crazy quilt...how awesome is that!:)
I am so happy about this outcome...this piece will be large to be sure, but will be cut up and used in the crazy quilt I am making for my final project in Alchemy with Karen Ruane...I will forever call this "Crazy Snippet Cloth" in honor of crazy quilts...one more peek at my lovely cloth in progress...
On this past Saturday the hubs and I went to a local charity shop and look what I found...
These are 100% linen table mats and napkins...eight in total...these are vintage but new in the package...just beautiful and I could not pass them up, so they came home with me...
There are eight of each...the table mat is 20 inches wide and 19 1/2 inches tall...the napkins are 20 inch squares....just lovely...the weight and feel of these table linens are so wonderful...I have plans to use these in a future wrapping cloth...
I am sure these will be finding their way into several projects along the way...I also came across this spool of vintage trim...
the pic does not do it justice...it is a deep chocolate brown color and so very rich looking...I am thinking this is embroidery anglaise but am not sure...there are about 20yds here...I am off to work some more on my crazy snippet cloth so I can start piecing together the actual project...keep calm and stitch on,

P/S...don't forget FNSI is this Friday, which for us in the states is tomorrow...do go here and sign up if you have not already done so...

And Then There Were Two....

I had no idea that these dolls would be addictive...but they are...I have finished another one which I am calling "Off To The Ball"...
she is made with vintage lace as well as new lace, ribbons and beading...her over skirt is made of ruched tulle that sparkles and her skirt is fuller than the first one I made...she is my favorite of the two I have made...I am thinking of one in red/black lace...
such glorious sunshine today after two weeks of rain every single day...I could not resist these lovely clouds in the sky...
Coy gave me this lovely little basket of flowers for Mother's day and it has been in bloom all this time...lot's of little blooms ready to burst forth...and the roses are beautiful and still blooming...off to work on some snippet cloth as I am making a really large piece so that I can cut it up to use in a crazy block...I am really enjoying the process of making this cloth...talk soon...

Hexagons...

I just love hexagons and everything connected with them...they are so much fun to work with and I have several projects on the go...this is a newer one that I am working on...
a total of 13 blocks will be made for this quilt using fq's that I have been saving...this is the first one....I really, really like this one...sigh...I really love this fq and hate to cut into it...but I really like how this project is going to come together and give me big sections of each of the fq's that I use...which in turn makes me really happy...the lower pic is a truer representation of the colors in the block...I took this on a rainy day so not the best pic...

Roses....

Another rose is in bloom from the new bushes...I snapped this between thunder boomers today...

On My Desk

A little bit more work in my ledger and the start of the middle section of my project...
Using an actual drawing made from my moms hands...I scanned them in and then reduced them for the project...
I am loving how all this is coming together...exploring, gathering and preparing to stitch...my mind is full of ideas and more than one project may spring from this first project that I am doing...

Roses, Yarn and Stars...

I have been so happy that my hands have cleared up from having the dreaded poison oak that I have worked this past week on several items...First up is a pic of one of my new rose bushes with two beautiful blooms...it will take a few yrs for this lovely rose bed to be full and thick, but I was so happy to see these two roses this morning...once all the roses have taken root really well, we will be putting lovely white rock gravel down to make this rose garden very pretty...
Next is an update on the afghan I am making with glorious colors...I have used all 25 colors making two rows each...
I am using a size 5mm hook to work this stitch, which can be found here Lucy has the best tuts on her blog...I am still in love with this yarn which is Style Craft yarn...I have started the color repeat and get giddy when I see all these lovely colors together...
I did make one star this past week...just needs the outer diamonds sewn on...sorry for the blur...I don't know what happened...
This little jewel went off to a new home across the waters...it is a candle mat...I really enjoyed making this one...hope you are having a great day...

Sigh....

I have been doing a little bit on my current project adding to my ledger work and trying to decide how I will proceed...I will be doing a few more samples before I start on the actual project...I also need to draw out a design sheet as I think I may have a way to incorporate the crazy quilt aspect that is truly me in the design...right now I am thinking on how to get it from thought process to ledger...
I am enjoying the process though...and am learning new ways to explore my ideas for the project...the snippets from my grans dress make me smile every time I see them...I can see her smile and hear her voice when I look at the dress I am using...such great memories of her...until next time keep those needles stitching...

Playing....

I have a little gadget that I bought a month or so ago to punch out paper hexagons with...I have three sizes and I finally used the smallest to make some templates...these are 3/4 of an inch and for me very small...in just a bit I had a whole stack of 100 paper pieces ready to go in my package...I made these to go off in a swap package that I put together...not sure if I will sew with these as they are small...but they do make great gifts for quilty friends that do epp...I can't show the rest of the package until it arrives to its new home...are these little sweets coming your way?....

Blooming...

Some of my roses have started the blooming process....the smell is heavenly...I love roses and have many rose bushes...this year we are working on a rose garden and have planted 23 new rose bushes and will plant another 24 soon...the rose above is from a Tyler TX rose bush...love them...this yellow old fashioned rose bush is a climber and it is up a 40ft tree on the backside of the property...it is full of blooms and buds getting ready to bloom out...the smell is so sweet and fragrant...

These roses are so pretty...it has the palest yellow blooms every year and has 8 to 40 ft. runners all up in the tree and hanging down to the ground....
this rose loves to climb and cascade down...it came from my mom's home place and is a cutting off of her bush...this rose bush is around 60yrs old...
There are hundreds of buds on this one....I am watching daily so I can hopefully capture it in full bloom before any rain comes and makes the petals fall...
some very pretty iris have popped up over night as well in full bloom...these are so lovely, almost like velvet...
Lovely thick petals on this one...smells wonderful....
Candystripe is one of my favorite roses that I have...looks like a peppermint exploded on the rose...
a nice soft color for a rose...again smells wonderful...
these little roses are very dense in petals and the smell is so fabulous on these...
last of all is my running rose bush from my dads home place...this bush is a cutting from a bush that is over a hundred yrs old...this particular bush is 45 yrs old...it is an old fashioned breed rose and is full of these lovely little roses...and they pack a powerful rose scent when in bloom....I hope you have enjoyed my tour of roses...I know I enjoyed smelling them and taking pics of them...may your day be filled with the fragrance of roses as well.
